Pigmented Lesions

A pigmented lesion is excess melanin in skin cells that appear as darker areas

Examples of pigmented lesions include:

  • Freckles
  • Moles
  • Sun spots
  • Age spots
  • Birthmarks

Some individuals are born with a pigmented lesion, while others develop them over time from sun exposure or as a result of changing hormones and aging.

We recommend that all pigmented lesions are cleared by a medical professional before starting treatment. Most pigmented lesions are benign however, some are melanomas.

Laser Therapy for Melasma

Target stubborn pigmentation and restore your skin’s natural glow.

Melasma is a common skin condition that appears as brown or gray-brown patches, typically on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, or nose. Often triggered by sun exposure, hormonal changes, and genetics, melasma can be difficult to treat with skincare products alone. That’s where advanced laser therapy comes in.

What Is Laser Therapy for Melasma?

Laser therapy uses focused light energy to gently break down excess melanin (pigment) in the skin, helping to visibly reduce discoloration and even out your skin tone. It’s a safe and effective solution, especially when combined with sun protection and medical-grade skincare.

Types of Laser Treatments We May Use:

  • Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser – Targets deeper pigment with minimal downtime. Safe for a wide range of skin tones.
  • Fractional Laser (e.g., Fraxel) – Stimulates collagen and breaks up stubborn pigment in deeper layers. Best for more advanced cases.
  • Picosecond Laser – Delivers ultra-fast pulses for effective pigment removal with a gentler approach.
  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) – Treats superficial pigmentation with bright light energy. Best for lighter skin types.

Benefits of Laser Therapy for Melasma:

✓ Reduces brown patches and discoloration
✓ Reaches deeper layers of pigment
✓ Improves skin tone and texture
✓ Safe, non-invasive, and customizable

Important Aftercare:

To prevent melasma from returning, we recommend:

  • Daily broad-spectrum SPF
  • Medical-grade brightening products
  • Avoiding heat and sun exposure
  • Regular maintenance treatments as advised

What to Expect:

A consultation will help determine the best laser for your skin type and melasma severity. Most treatments take under 30 minutes, with minimal downtime. You may need multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results.
